We love it when you share your AdoramaPix art with us on social media. Recently, we came across Instagram member @LIZZIE.PETYKOSKI ‘s post about a photo book she made with us. With travel season just around the corner, we wanted to share her story and her passion for preserving her vacation memories.
1. Why is it important to you to archive your memories/travels in a photo book?
We love to relive all of our travel memories without having our house turn into a souvenir shrine or plaster photos of us up on every wall. We already spend a lot of our actual vacations taking pictures and documenting our adventures, but the question became what to do with all those when we got home? I found the easiest way to display lots of pictures elegantly was by making a photo book. I have a set of about 7 books now, all 8×8 in size on our coffee table. Whenever people come over they naturally pick them up and scan through them. It’s such a fun way to keep the memories alive, talk about the different places we’ve been and experiences we had with our company.
2. Was it difficult or time consuming to put a photo book together?
Creating and editing our AdoramaPix book was incredibly easy. Beginning with the size, cover, and paper type, we selected our style and proceeded to work on the layout. While AdoramaPix has tons of design templates to put together a clean and well organized book, we decided to take advantage of their “upload ready PDF” option. With the provided downloadable Photoshop document I was able to create a one-of-a-kind layout that was specific to our needs and one that could take full advantage of AdoramaPix’s lay flat pages where we could showcase a two-page spread of some of our favorite photos. We love the freedom of choice and the endless customization options.
3. Any advice for those that are procrastinating and letting their images idle on their phone/computers?
My husband is all about the “cloud”, but I’m old school! With print, you can touch, feel, and share photos on a personal level. It’s a simple and inexpensive alternative to letting photos sit on the phone, computer, or worse, saving them to social media platforms. To get started, my advice would be to start with a specific event or idea you want to capture. Whether it’s a wedding, vacation, or baby’s first year, gather all your favorite photos together on your computer. In AdoramaPix’s tool, place similar colored or categories of photos together in your layout. You will naturally be drawn to certain favorite photos, consider making these full pages or the largest image on your page – start there and build around them. We like full page spreads and very clean background pages to make the images and colors pop. I’ve found that the greatest part of it all is that no book is the same. We use different fonts, layouts, and styles that make them all feel unique. But together, they tell our story through quality photos and impeccable printing!
